Forever Young At Beaches Turks & Caicos

General Manager of award-winning Beaches Turks & Caicos, Donald Dagenais, enjoys being young at-heart just as much as the guests do. For the past five years, Dagenais has led the esteemed resort to greatness and even more recognition, a factor, he says, that is likely due to the great staff, beautiful property and unique resort programs that appeal to both children and adults alike. The laidback Dagenais, who likes to read and dine out, finds true joy in making each guest’s experience memorable, whether they are 1 or 81 years old.

SL: What do you like best about being General Manager?

DD: I look forward to coming to work and interacting with the guests. It’s wonderful, and rewarding, to consistently hear guests complimenting Beaches Turks & Caicos and that they keep coming back because of our wonderful staff.

SL: What is your most memorable guest story? 

DD: My most memorable story is a heartwarming one. A few years ago a group of North American travel agents visited the property as part of their familiarization tour. Two agents on that tour struck up a love connection and came back here a year later to get married. They have been coming here ever since with their daughter.

SL: Do you have a favorite island cocktail or beverage?

DD: Well, I don’t drink, but if I had to recommend a great island cocktail, it would definitely have to be the Beaches Mai-tai; it’s the Tuesday and Saturday special at our resort—a delicious combination of gold rum, orange curacao, pineapple, orange juice, dark rum floater and sour mix.

SL: Is there anything new or exciting going on at Beaches Turks & Caicos?

DD: There is always something exciting happening here at Beaches Turks & Caicos. This fall, our 64-acre resort will see a major extension to our popular Kimonos Restaurant. The Zen-inspired Teppanyaki-style eatery is expanding its seating space to allow an additional 92 guests to enjoy an unforgettable dining experience. Also, our world famous Camp Sesame, which caters to kids four and under, is expanding to include a luxury playroom, which comes equipped with a playground and indoor game rooms for toddlers. The expansion will include two grand play rooms with flat screen TVs, elaborate wall murals, and personalized services to ensure that our one-to-two year-old guests have a blast with their very own set of activities, all supervised by Certified Nannies.

SL: Beaches Turks & Caicos is known for its delicious wood-fired pizza, what’s your favorite pizza combination at Bella Napoli? 

DD: My favorite pizza would have to be the veggie pizza with no anchovies.

SL: What is one special thing your staff does to ensure that guests will return again to Beaches Turks & Caicos?

DD: We offer personalized friendly and efficient and courteous services.  We go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that every single guest at the resort has an ultimate vacation experience.

SL: If there was a song out there that could define the Beaches Turks & Caicos experience, what would it be and why? 

DD: Forever Young, by Rod Stewart. Beaches Turks & Caicos offers an unbelievably exciting all-inclusive vacation experience for the young and young at heart.  When you are here, you will always feel forever young.

SL: Are there any special traditions or rituals done as guests arrive or leave the resort?

DD: Our weekend arrival and departure tradition is certainly one to be mentioned.  Saturdays and Sundays are our biggest arrival and departure days and also the days we provide the liveliest arrival and departure experience! The Entertainment Staff wear the Turks & Caicos national clothing and paraphernalia, and guests get to arrive and depart to the sounds of lively Caribbean music. This way, our guests get a fabulous first impression of the resort and when it’s time to depart, they leave with a bang!

    We so loved our two visits to Beaches Turks and Caicos, our boys are 8 and 11 and one has severe food allergies, this resort was perfect for us! Upon arrival, we were looking at the Lifestyle magazine at the resort and the next evening, went to the Returning Guests Reception only to find Chef Collin featured in the magazine at the reception. We immediatly introduced him to Ethan our 11 year old and for our week stay he and Ethan were best of friends! He made sure Ethan had Gluten Free pancakes and waffles every morning. Ethan was walked thru the menu or buffets by a chef to ensure he only had GF food. Most impressive was when we checked out very early in the morning to catch our flight and Chef Collin had Gluten Free muffins and cookies packaged up for Ethan to travel with. Great touches!

    LOVED every minute of our stay, loved the special attention for our child, and we will return.


  • We Love Beaches Turks & Caicos – See you At Thanksgiving and then again During Spring Break 2013! This has got to be at least our 6th and 7th trips back to the resort probably more. We always bring someone new with us, the Fall our Brother Matthew Goody and next Spring another Family with their Children and Parents, Rob and Danielle Christensen, their 3 children and James and Lucielle Morrissey their parents. Our granddaughter is our shining star always at Beaches Turks & Caicos. I can’t imagine going anywhere else for vacation! See you in “50” days – we arrive on Friday, November 16th!
