Sandals Emerald Bay: Simply the Best

Jeremy Mutton, General Manager of Sandals Emerald Bay, loves fresh coconuts, walking his two dogs, and enjoys personally welcoming guests to the Exumas by greeting them at airport. His team members, people who go the extra mile to make guests feel special and keep them intrigued, inspire him to do such things. According to Mutton, there are many exciting experiences to be had amid the Exuma cays. Besides receiving superb butler service and tasting the flavors of the resort’s newest restaurant, no guest, he says, can leave the island without swimming with the pigs (yes, pigs), or standing on the Tropic of Cancer line that runs through the island. Find out the many reasons why Mutton and his Sandals Emerald Bay team are ‘simply the best.’

SL: How long have you been the General Manager of Sandals Emerald Bay?

JM: Approaching two years now and I still come in everyday in awe of the emerald, clear waters. I often wonder if I will ever tire of that view. Highly unlikely.

SL:  What do you like best about being General Manager?

JM: Meeting so many interesting people – many of whom become wonderful and dear friends who keep in contact throughout the year.

SL:  What is your most memorable guest story?

JM: Too many! But a most recent one still in my memory is of a couple that frequently visited Exuma many years ago but had not returned for about 30 years. To celebrate the beginning of their retirement they recently vacationed at Sandals Emerald Bay and the gentleman asked some of our team members if they knew of a lady in a particular area of the island who used to cook for them at their vacation home. The guest thought the request was a long shot, however our team member knew of the lady in question and as a surprise, the following day my team member secretly brought in the lady to meet the gentleman – it is typical of the Exumians who are so warm and friendly to do something like that. The look on the gentleman’s face was priceless!

SL: Do you have a favorite island cocktail or beverage?

JM: Coconuts are abundant on the island so anything with coconut fresh off the tree.

SL: Is there anything new or exciting going on at Sandals Emerald Bay?

JM: Our new fire features have received rave reviews and create such a romantic and intimate setting. The sky at night is quite spectacular on Exuma so to see couples stargazing beside the fire pits is very special.

SL: Sandals Emerald Bay is known for its unique dining options, what’s your favorite menu item from any of the restaurants and why?

JM: La Parisienne, our French fine dining restaurant opened last year and has some authentic and inspiring French dishes that I particularly enjoy. But oftentimes, you can find me at Barefoot by the Sea, chowing down on Bahamian Conch fritters complimented by a spicy dip…a real Bahamian experience.

SL: What is one special thing your team members do to ensure that guests will return again to Sandals Emerald Bay?

JM: The personal attention our team members give to guests continues to blow our guests away. Besides receiving an everyday touch of excellent service, guests are quite fond of the fruit and ice cream served daily at the pool and beach.

SL: If there was a song out there that could define the Sandals Emerald Bay experience, what would it be and why?

JM: Simply the Best – we play this at our Returning Guest Dinners each week to great acclaim! We’re simply the best, and equally, so are our amazing guests!

SL: What makes the resort different or unique when compared to other Sandals Resorts?

JM: Being amid the beautiful and plentiful cays on the island of Exuma, surrounded by the most magnificent crystal clear waters, with the most amazing and challenging Greg Norman Golf Course, make Sandals Emerald Bay a truly unique and memorable destination.

  • We had the BEST time of our lives. Sandals Montego made our experience more than we could have ever imagined. In addition to the Wedding Staff, which was ABSOULTELY AMAZING; we enjoyed our FAVORITE Playmaker Hartlon Grey. He went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed ourselves and kept us informed on all the daily activities. Hartlon became a part of family making it home away from home for us. We look forward to seeing again next year. We feel that Hartlon is a WONDERFUL asset to Sandals Montego Bay. Not only did he become our Favorite but to see him interact with the other guests made us feel how genuine he was. He shows and has a true passion for his job and handles himself in a professional manner. Keylon (the bartender), Joseph (our wedding bartender) and Orville our photographer we AWESOME as well. Thank you Sandals for making our wedding/honeymoon experience memorable and beautiful. Look forward to reliving our wedding, honeymoon and fun with the above people next year!

My Wife and i have been to many sandals resorts and it ranks as one of the best . with the GM and his staff not forgetting david Kerr the welcome Back loyalty Manager. I am pleased to see jeremy again after meeting him first at White House when it opened

  • Sandals Emerald Bay and Mr. Mutton surely are SIMPLY THE BEST! My husband and I met Mr. Mutton 2 years ago when he was Manager at Sandals Royal Bahamian. He made us feel so welcomed that we returned for another visit. When we found out that Jeremy relocated to Sandals Emerald Bay we vacationed there last May. Again he made us feel so welcomed and priviledged when he invited us to sit at his table at the returning guests dinner. It was a memorable experience receiving our Silver Sandals pendant while at Emerald Bay. We definately will be returning there also.

  • Jeremy we are proud of your accomplishments. My husband and I met you at the Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay where you were the food and beverage manager. You were the best at your job and it’s not the same there now. Congratuations on moving upward, you really deserve it. Hopefully one day we will find our way there to see you again.

    Sandals Emerald Bay
This is a beautiful resort and one of best beaches with wonderful turquoise water of the ocean. Our room was best I ever had, spacious clean and well adapted. The staff is outstanding and friendly with no exception. We enjoyed very much pool area with a lot of umbrellas and loungers around it, great service from pool stuff and talented DJ’s
But most important of all were people, our Butlers, they were some between a best friends and best relatives. Keicha Phillip and Anthony Thomas You are in our hearts and we will treasure our memories forever. Before we even new what we want you people already came with that, like you were a step ahead of every our wish and dream. Thank You.
My wife had a minor medical problem and we received so much help professional and personal attention from the stuff nurse Tamara Rolle, manager on duty Rebecca Lightbourne, night manager Dwayne Collie. Next day hotel manager Kyle Mais came with Annette Carey EHS manager and offer to take us to hospital in George Town waited for us and took us back. Kyle gave us nice tour of the island with sightseeing and history of the island and local culture.
    Thank you all
